ghana photos

This show is a compilation of photographs taken during my 5 week exploration of Ghana, Africa. Prior to my trip I extensively researched different countries in Africa to decide my final destination. I found that a lot of the photographs from African countries depicted scenes of destitution and starvation. I knew from previous travels in developing countries that even though there were major problems, there were also many things to be envious of even though I was from a ‘privileged’ country. I chose Ghana because it prided itself in being a peaceful nation and I was determined to capture those aspects that deserved admiration.

These photographs represent a wide range of things that I found to be admirable and intriguing and are not restricted to a particular theme other than a general positive nature. I found the people of Ghana to be very welcoming and always willing to share no matter how little they had. I had many conversations with Ghanaians about the misrepresentation of developing countries by the media of developed countries. They would often laugh at the misconceptions and were glad to know that I intended to help to dispel the myth that it is always preferable to live in a developed nation. This show is to reveal the beauty that can exist anywhere in the world despite its lack of modern luxury.
